Trends of the counting of votes for Mumbai Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 on Tuesday indicated that Bharatiya Janata Party leader Adv Ujjwal Nikam is trailing from the Mumbai North Central.
Nikam, who represented the government as a prosecutor during the trial for 26/11 and several other high-profile cases joined the BJP at the last minute. Nikam has no political baggage and it was predicted that he is likely to receive support from the saffron party's vote bank.
Presently, Nikam is trailing with a margin of 793 votes as the counting for Mumbai Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 is underway, stated the data from the Election Commission of India.
The BJP leader was pitted against Congress' candidate Varsha Gaikwad who is presently an MLA and the chief of Mumbai Congress.

Gaikwad, who was vying for Mumbai South, had campaigned wholeheartedly after announcing her candidature. Per the data of Mumbai Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, Gaikwad has so far received 3, 94, 745 votes.

Mumbai North Central constituency is spread across areas like Kurla, Kalina, Bandra West, Bandra East, Vile Parle (West), Chandivali etc. From celebrities, and businessmen to low-income families living in slums, the constituency needs an infrastructure boost including better solid waste management etc. While in the Bandra-Santacruz belt of the constituency, there's a requirement to resolve issues pertaining to traffic and unauthorised hawkers.
In the previous election, BJP's Poonam Mahajan defeated Congress' Priya Dutt by 1.31 lakh votes. Previously, in 2014, Mahajan beat Dutt by 1.87 lakh votes.
Mumbai Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Counting of votes
The counting of votes in the state's 48 Lok Sabha seats began at 8 a.m., with postal ballots being counted first, according to an official.
The Shiv Sena and NCP groups, together with the government BJP and the opposition Congress, are competing for political power in the state, with the Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP).
Maharashtra had a voter turnout of 61.33 per cent in the general elections, which were held in five phases from April 19 to May 20.
In total, 5,70,06,778 voters out of 9,29,43,890 exercised their right to vote in the five phases.
The Gadchiroli-Chimur constituency had the highest polling rate at 71.88 percent, while Mumbai South had the lowest turnout at 50.06 percent.
Vote counting in Maharashtra is being conducted by 14,507 persons in 289 counting rooms and 4,309 counting tables.
