Mumbai: Man jumps to death from 27th floor of Parel high-rise

A 43-year-old man allegedly jumped to death from a high-rise in Parel, on Friday morning. The deceased Shlok Kapoor suffered from depression and was undergoing medical treatment, police said.

According to police, the deceased was a resident of Ashoka Towers. At around 10.30 am, a security guard of the society noticed a person lying on the lawn. When he went to have a closer look, he was shocked to find a man in a pool of blood.

The guard immediately alerted the police who rushed the victim to KEM Hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival. The preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased may have jumped from the refuge area, on the 27th floor.

Kapoor was a senior vice-president at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation at BKC. He has earlier worked with Barclay's as a director. Jitendra Pawar, senior inspector at Bhoiwada police station, said, "He was reeling under work pressure for the past two-three months. He had visited a psychiatrist at Gamdevi and was undergoing treatment for a couple of months."

The deceased is survived by his wife and two children. "As per the family, he was under depression and was taking medical assistance for the same. A suicide note has been found in his diary, which states that he holds no one responsible for this extreme step," said Vijay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4). An accidental death report has been filed in the matter.
