Legislator Bacchu Kadu and his supporters, on Thursday, staged a protest outside cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's Mumbai residence. Kadu and other protestors stood outside the cricketer's Bandra home with placards against him doing an advertisement for online gaming, stated a PTI report.
According to the report, Prahar Janshakti Paksh MLA Bacchu Kadu and his supporters were later taken away by the police from the spot. The protesters sloganeered and demanded that Tendulkar return his Bharat Ratna award. They dubbed it unbecoming of him to be a Bharat Ratna recipient and endorse online games which could spoil the youth.
Kadu, who supports the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led camp, said that Bharat Ratna recipients must uphold a certain behaviour and that Sachin Tendulkar was not doing so. "Sachin Tendulkar should return his Bharat Ratna award. If he does not opt out of the online gaming advertisement, we will protest outside every Ganesh pandal (during the upcoming Ganpati festival) where this advertisement is displayed and demand its removal. He is Bharat Ratna of the whole country," Kadu made this statement before he and his supporters were taken away by the police, PTI report read.
Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Bacchu Kadu reiterated his statement that Tendulkar will have to return his award or stop endorsing the online game. He warned if he does not do so, the legislator shall install âTendulkar Beg Box' and âTendulkar Suggestion Box' near all bus stops and Ganesh Chaturthi pandals across the state.

Bacchu Kadu had previously issued another statement warning the sportsman to withdraw from endorsements of the online game and gave him until August 30 to clarify his stance on the same. He also said that he will be sending a notice to the player through a lawyer if he does not give a definitive response by the end of August.
Kadu has been referring to popular payment gateway's gaming programme which is available online. It allows users to play fantasy games online and earn real cash prizes. Sachin Tendulkar had appeared in an advertisement for the gaming programme nearly three years ago.
