Water supply in most parts of the city was hit on Sunday as the filtration and pumping plants at Bhandup Water Purification Complex had to be shut due to flooding, following the incessant rains.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed citizens via Twitter and also asked them to "boil water before consuming."

The Western Railway and Central Railway briefly suspended suburban train services in Mumbai after the heavy rains, and many long distance trains were terminated or regulated at various stations, officials said.
