Mumbai on Tuesday reported 56 Covid-19 cases, which is a three-fold rise from the addition to the tally a day earlier, taking the infection count here 10,58,185, a civic official said.
The number of cases added to the tally on Monday stood at 18, he said, adding that the cases detected in a day had gone over the 50-mark for the first time since March 28.
The death toll remained unchanged at 19,559, while the recovery count rose by 36 to touch 10,38,356, leaving the metropolis with 270 active cases, he said.
With 10,802 samples being examined in the last 24 hours, the number of tests in Mumbai has gone up to 1,66,68,193, as per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation data.
It also showed the recovery rate was 98 per cent, the positivity rate stood at 0.005 per cent, while the caseload doubling time was 19,722 days.

The case growth rate between March 29 and April 4 was 0.004 per cent, it added.
The civic data also showed that all 56 cases detected during the day were asymptomatic, and only 16 of the 26,151 hospital beds earmarked for Covid-19 treatment were currently occupied.
