Mumbai city has seen a marginal growth in the number of voters since the 2019 Lok Sabha polls

The Palghar constituency witnessed the highest voter rise in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. There are around 2.3 lakh more voters in the Palghar constituency this time. Meanwhile, the South Mumbai and North West Mumbai constituencies witnessed a reduction in the number of voters. Although there are more voters in Mumbai as compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the number is 90,000 less than the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

As per constituency-wise data published by the Election Commission in 2019, 18.85 lakh voters registered in the Palghar constituency, compared to 21.15 this year. In the Bhiwandi constituency, the number of voters rose by 1.65 lakh to 20.25 lakh, compared to 18.90 lakh voters in 2019. In Thane constituency, there are 24.64 voters, around 90,000 more than the 23.70 lakh voters in 2019.

Voters in Mumbai city have risen by 1.64 lakh as compared to 2019. But this number is lesser than the 2014 Lok Sabha election. There were 98.93 lakh voters in Mumbai in 2014 and 96.39 lakh in 2019, while 98.03 lakh voters registered for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

While, four out of six constituencies saw a rise in voters by 2-3 per cent, and two constituencies (South Mumbai and North West) witnessed a drop in registered voters. In the South Mumbai constituency, the number of voters was reduced by 32,000 and the number was 22,000 lower in the North West constituency.

Election Commission officials said that voters in South Mumbai reduced mainly due to migration to the suburbs and redevelopment. Meanwhile, the population of the Thane and Palghar districts has risen in the last 2-3 decades, resulting in an increase in voters in those areas.
