Mumbai weather update: Partly cloudy skies

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted partly cloudy skies for Mumbai.

The five-day forecast shared recently by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai indicates that Thane and Raigad are very likely to see "light rainfall and thundershowers" in some places today.

The unseasonal showers have resulted in respite from the hot temperatures the city has been witnessing in the past few weeks. According to IMD, the minimum temperature for the city has gone down to 22 degrees Celcius while the maximum temperature is predicted to reach 33 degrees Celcius during the day.

Mumbai weather update: Western Disturbance

The IMD on Thursday said that as predicted in the last 5-6 days, clouds have started entering the Indian region due to Western Disturbance.

"Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand very likely to experience rain/snowfall from tonight till 3rd March with heavy to very heavy snow/rain & hailstorm on 1st & 2nd March," the IMD said in a post on 'X'.

"Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh very likely to experience rainfall from 1st to 3rd March with thunderstorm, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) & hailstorm at isolated places over the region on 2nd March," it added.

Meanwhile, the mercury settled at a low of 10.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, in Delhi on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The humidity level was recorded at 96 per cent.

The IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies and very light rain during the day.

Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the 'moderate' category at 180 at 9 am, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
