A 43-year-old woman who allegedly accused about a dozen young men in Mumbai and Delhi, including a model and actor from Bollywood, of rape died by suicide on Sunday at her residence in Seven Bungalows, Andheri West. The rape charge against the model had been dropped and he obtained unconditional bail when he brought the other cases to the notice of the court.
"The woman had left a three-page suicide note in which she did not hold anyone responsible for her death. In the note, she mentioned that her boyfriend did not understand her. She also described her brother, who lives in Delhi, as a psychopath who would not understand anything. She requested that her body be handed over to her boyfriend for the last rites. However, the boyfriend has refused to take custody of the body," said an officer. The police are now looking for her brother.
"After receiving information from a society member where the woman was residing on rent, a police team went to the flat and discovered her body hanging from the ceiling fan," said an officer from Versova police station. After conducting a panchnama her body was sent for the autopsy to Cooper hospital.
The search of the house by the police yielded the suicide note. The police also came to know that the woman was living alone and working in a five-star hotel in Juhu. The police suspect the woman may be suffering from depression.

âFalse case against me'
The model allegedly met the woman on a dating site in the year 2020. She invited him a couple of times for parties at her home in Andheri. He claimed to have lost consciousness and to have slept at her house under the influence of alcohol. "I didn't like her behaviour, so I wanted to distance myself from her, but she falsely accused me of rape and filed a complaint at the Amboli police station. I spent five months in jail for a crime I didn't commit, and my reputation is damaged," model said.
He told mid-day, "My petition to quash the FIR is expected to be heard before the Bombay High Court on July 4." As the court had dropped only the section related to rape against the model, other sections in the FIR continue.
