Motorists will be able to use the Naigaon flyover connecting Naigaon East and West by April this year. It may be noted that work on the Naigaon flyover connecting Naigaon East and West had been stalled for the last five years.
The MMRDA administration has informed RTI activist Anil Galgali that they have given an extension to the contractors to complete the work on the stalled flyover till May 31, 2021.
The MMRDA administration also informed Galgali that work on the flyover had started on December 20, 2013, and was expected to be completed on June 20, 2016.
The flyover, which is 1.29 km long, is expected to cost Rs 85.12 crore.

Once completed, the Naigaon flyover will mainly benefit the locals of Naigaon West, Naigaon East, and Vasai talukas like Umele, Juchandra, etc. The distance to reach National Highway 8 for residents of Vasai West and Umele will be reduced to about 10 km.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and MMRDA's Metropolitan Commissioner RA Rajiv, Galgali said that citizens are suffering due to the untimely completion of the project and care should be taken to not increase the cost of the project in the future.
