A 47-year-old police constable was found hanging from the ceiling at his home in Navi Mumbai on Monday night. The constable has been identified as Santosh Patil.
Patil lived with his wife and two children in Kharghar and the family was at home when he took the extreme step. Police suspect that prolonged illness could be the reason behind the suicide.
Patil was found hanging by his daughter around midnight. He was taken to Terna Hospital by Satish Pawar, a traffic constable who lives in same building, but Patil was declared dead on arrival.
Patil was attached to Kharghar police station.
