A 25-year-old woman, Zakia Mehboob Syed, suffered labour pains while riding a local train in Navi Mumbai. The event occurred Tuesday morning at about 8:30 am when the train arrived at Nerul station. The railway police responded immediately to secure her safety.
Senior Police Inspector Sambhaji Katare of the Government Railway Police reported that three female police constables helped take Zakia to Meenatai Thackeray Hospital in Nerul via ambulance, reported PTI.
At the hospital, Zakia successfully delivered a baby girl, and both mother and child were reported to be in good health.
According to the report, the woman's husband expressed gratitude to the railway police for their rapid aid at this critical time.

In a similar incident, a 30-year-old woman last year gave birth on a road in Kurla region of the city and the police later took the mother and the infant to a civic hospital.
Agency reports stated that officials in VB Nagar Police Station told the media that they received information in the afternoon about a woman giving birth in an area close to Kamani Junction.
The report added that the woman, identified as Suvarna Mirgal, lost consciousness after birthing her child. He added that the Nirbhaya Squad of the police had responded promptly and took the woman and baby to the nearby civic hospital.
He said that the child and mother were safe and added that Senior Inspector Rajeen Chavan and other officials visited them at the hospital.
Recently, a newborn girl was found abandoned on the doorstep of a woman's home in Thane. According to the report, the 29-year-old woman told the cops that while working in her home's kitchen, she heard an infant's cry. Upon looking around, she found the infant lying outside her door.
The woman, who resides in Louiswadi area of the city, notified the cops about the baby. They arrived at her home and took the baby to Thane Civil Hospital for treatment.
A case has been filed under Section 317 of the Indian Penal Code, which covers the exposure and abandonment of a kid under the age of 12 by a parent or caretaker, cops told news agency PTI.
