Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Working President Supriya Sule has confirmed that discussions about seat allocation within the INDIA alliance are ongoing. She provided this update to reporters, emphasizing that seat-sharing negotiations are in progress for multiple states and have not halted. Each state presents its unique dynamics and considerations, making it essential to continue the work of finding suitable seat-sharing arrangements, according to ANI report.
"The seat-sharing talks are underway for several states and it has not stopped. Every state has its own permutations and combinations. The work is going on," Sule was quoted as saying in the report.
Opposition parties have expressed their commitment to promptly finalise seat-sharing agreements. They aim to foster a spirit of cooperation and compromise to present a unified front in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The opposition parties, collectively forming the INDIA alliance, concluded their third meeting in Maharashtra on August 31-September 1, where they resolved to contest the 2024 elections together. They also announced their intention to swiftly finalise seat-sharing arrangements through a give-and-take approach.
In a significant development during this two-day meeting, the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance coalition established four main committees, including members from all participating political parties. This collaborative approach demonstrates the commitment of the opposition parties to work together effectively to challenge the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Their primary goal is to prevent the NDA from securing a third consecutive term in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This alliance of opposition parties, known as INDIA, features prominent members such as the Congress party. They have united to provide a robust challenge to the NDA, which currently holds power at the Centre. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be a crucial political event, and the opposition is focused on presenting a compelling alternative to the voters, the report added.
The first meeting of the Opposition's INDIA bloc was held at Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar's Delhi residence in September with as many as 11 leaders of the 14-member panel present at the meeting.
