A 20-year-old guy who had been eluding authorities since May of last year in connection with the murder of two people has been caught in Maharashtra's Palghar district, according to police officials.
The incident occurred on May 17, 2023, at Shirdi Nagar, Nalasopara region, when Raunak Anjani Tiwari and Kishan Sanjay Jha, both 18, were killed, while another man, Shivam Omprakash Mishra, was injured, according to senior inspector Balasaheb Pawar of Achole police station, according to the PTI report.
The report added that the bodies of the deceased were discovered partially burned and with evidence of head injuries. The victims and Mishra were known as buddies.
Mishra, who was first suspected of complicity in the killings, was investigated by authorities even while getting hospital treatment. Despite his attempts to seek pre-arrest bail, the judge denied his petition, citing solid evidence given by the police, the agency report added.
According to the report, after being denied bail, Mishra fled, causing law enforcement to initiate a manhunt for him.

On Saturday, the police successfully tracked down Mishra in Nalla Sopara after conducting meticulous investigations, including analysing CCTV footage from the crime scene and using technical and intelligence inputs, the agency report added.
A 60-year-old female labourer was killed after being hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV). Following the collision, furious residents vandalised the vehicle and beat its occupants, prompting police custody, according to the PTI report.
On Saturday evening, the event occurred on Satpala-Rajodi Road in the Vasai area. The woman, from Murbad in Thane district, was walking home with a coworker when she was struck by a speeding SUV, killing her, according to an Arnala Sagri police official, as reported by PTI. The woman died from her injuries at the scene of the crash.
After learning of the tragedy, locals rushed to the scene, pelted stones at the SUV and vandalised it. They also apprehended and physically assaulted the vehicle's two occupants, as per the PTI report.
A video of the aftermath of the attack on the car went viral on social media networks. The cops quickly responded to the event, arriving on the scene and detaining the SUV's two occupants.
Simultaneously, the woman's body was brought to a government hospital for a postmortem examination, while the enraged people dispersed, calming the situation, according to police reports to PTI.
