CM Shinde and Deputies Ajit Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis announcing posting of medical officers/ CMO
The Maharashtra Health Department has concluded the recruitment process for medical officers in the Medical and Health Services Medical Officer Group-A cadre. On Thursday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued posting orders for 1446 selected candidates online before the cabinet meeting at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai.
Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis & Ajit Pawar, Health Minister Prof Dr Tanaji Sawant, and other cabinet members were present during the event, stated a statement from the CMO.
"Maharashtra Medical and Health Services Medical Officer Group - The Health Department's recruitment process is complete. Prior to today's Cabinet meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued online posting orders to 1446 MBBS doctors. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Health Minister Prof Dr Tanaji Sawant, and Cabinet members were present," the statement read.
According to the statement, a total of 29,556 applications were received by the government through its online portal for 1729 vacancies of which 6575 candidates were MBBS graduates. Following the analysis, the final merit list was prepared and posting orders were issued to 1446 MBBS-qualified candidates on February 29.

"A total of 29 thousand 556 applications of MBBS and BAMS candidates were received through the online portal for 1729 vacancies in the Maharashtra Medical and Health Services Medical Officer Group-A cadre. 6575 MBBS-qualified candidates had applied. After scrutinising the applications submitted by the MBBS-qualified candidates, the selection list of 1446 MBBS-qualified candidates was released as per the final merit list," it added.
CMO statement further stated that the recruitment process was initiated on January 30 this year with the government's approval to fill the vacant posts. The advertisement was published the following day inviting applications through their portal from eligible candidates. The last date to submit was February 18, 2024.
"The Health Department, led by Chief Minister Shinde, worked tirelessly to ensure the quick appointment of medical officers, completing the procedure in a short amount of time. Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department Milind Mhaiskar, Health Services Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, Director Dr Nitin Ambedkar, and other Health Department officials were also present when the posting orders were issued," the statement further read.
The Chief Minister stressed the necessity of delivering timely and high-quality health care to the state's citizens by recruiting a large number of medical officers.
