The family of Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MLA and former minister Prajakt P Tanpure has spoken about the bullying their son faced at school at the hands of the minor accused of the Pune car crash. The17-year-old child killed two people while racing in his father's Porsche on May 20.
The legislator's wife, Sonali P Tanpure, revealed on social media that her son was classmates with the accused of Pune car crash, the son of a major Pune real estate developer. She described how her son was distressed by the accused's friends and the lack of response from their parents, reported IANS.
"My kid suffered greatly at the hands of the Pune car crash accused and several of his friends," Sonali bemoaned and added, "I even complained to their parents about it, but I did not receive a proper response."
Reportedly, the bullying and subsequent stonewalling from the parents prompted the Tanpure family to shift their son's school to avoid future harassment. "The wounds from those horrific occurrences are still present in his thoughts. If the parents had noticed their child's bad tendencies in time, such a terrible crime would not have occurred," she said referencing to the Pune car crash, the IANS report stated.

Reportedly, Prajakt Tanpure emphasised the horror of the Pune car crash, which claimed the lives of two young people--Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya--who had come to Pune with hopes for success. He accused the entire system, including the home department, the government, and the police, of supporting influential individuals and contributing to the incident.
"The authorities are committing the sin of destabilising the social order by supporting the influential big people. It's only because of the alert people present there and the pressure built by the citizens and the media that is leading to some effective action now," said Prajakt Tanpure.
Sonali demanded justice for the victims' families, who were killed instantaneously when a speeding Porsche collided with them in Kalyani Nagar, the IANS report stated.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed that the Pune police had taken all necessary steps in the rash driving case, denouncing the opposition's attempts to politicise the event. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader had spoken out accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of creating a divided India in which justice is dependent on wealth.
