GM of Western Railway Ashok Kumar Misra/ WR
The Western Railway celebrated the 75th Republic Day at Mahalaxmi Sports Ground in Mumbai with great zeal. Western Railway's general manager, Ashok Kumar Misra, saluted during the March Past, unfurled the national flag, and greeted the railway community.
After seeing the ceremonial procession in a stately manner, Misra spoke to the crowd on Republic Day. He applauded Western Railway for its recent accomplishments and significant anniversaries including the celebration of the Western Railways' headquarters completing 125 years, thanking the company as a whole for winning Efficiency Shields for exceptional performance in 2023.
"Today, we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day of our beloved nation. On this occasion, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all Railwaymen, their family members, respected customers, representatives of the press and media and all our countrymen. This day reminds us of our visionary leaders who gave us the Constitution which assures us equality, liberty and justice," he said.
He concluded his speech by saying, "Let us not be satisfied with what we have accomplished. We should gear up to make good the shortfalls and achieve our targets. We have to take up the challenge to complete all the planned developmental projects and capacity enhancement works in time. I am sure that we will, as usual, rise to the occasion and strive harder with renewed zeal and dedication to attain the desired goals. On this solemn occasion, I once again convey my best wishes to you and your family members!"

Apart from that, during the celebrations, Churchgate's Assistant Sub-Inspector Kuldeep was presented with the esteemed Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service during the festivities. GM Shri Misra praised him and asked the railway workers to keep pushing for greatness, not content to be satisfied with past performance but rather to overcome shortcomings and reach new goals.
The WR, in their statement, said, for the benefit of the Jagjivan Ram Hospital's indoor patients, Kshama Misra, President of Western Railway's Women's Welfare Organisation (WRWWO), donated practical things like electric kettles, mixer grinders, and water purifiers. The gifts were given to Jagjivan Ram Hospital's medical director, Dr Mamta Sharma.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) Dog Squad Show and cultural events with patriotic music and dance performances carried on the celebration.
