An RPF constable saved the life of a distressed man who allegedly jumped from a foot overbridge in Naya Nagar on Saturday, February 23.

The incident occurred around 5 pm when the constable, stationed at Bhayandar RPF, witnessed the man jump from the bridge. Without hesitation, he rushed to the scene and rescued the victim.

"I saw the man jumping from the bridge and without even thinking for a bit, I rushed to rescue the victim. He said that he was distressed due to some personal reasons and hence had decided to take some extreme steps. We then co-ordinated with the local authorities and the GRP and then admitted him to a local hospital. His condition is now stable," said the RPF constable who saved the life of the victim.

Meanwhile, a dead body of an unidentified man was on Friday found in the Kalwa creek in Thane district of Maharashtra, a civic official said, newswire PTI reported.

The fire brigade was alerted about the body by passers-by around 11.30 am, said chief of the disaster management cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, Yasin Tadvi.

The deceased was around 35-40 years old. The body was sent for autopsy while Kalwa police are conducting further probe, Tadvi said.

In an another incident, a man allegedly stabbed his male colleague to death before hanging himself at a garment unit in Sakinaka area of Mumbai in the early hours of Wednesday, police said, reported the PTI.

Prima facie, an argument between them on some issue led to the crime, an official said.

The incident came to light this morning after the owner of the garment unit, located in Sakinaka area, found the door locked from inside, a police official said.

"The owner asked a staffer to enter the unit by climbing from an adjacent shop. He spotted the body of Saddam Hussain Mohammed Ahmed Shaikh, 31, hanging on the mezzanine floor," he said.

The owner then called the police.

"Police used a cutter to break open the door to gain entry. The body of another employee, identified as Mohammed Ayyaz Nayab Ahmed Shaikh, 22, was found lying with injuries," the official said, the news agency reported on Wednesday.

Prima facie, Saddam Hussain stabbed Mohammed Ayyaz with a pair of scissors in the throat, stomach and chest, before hanging himself, he said.

A case under Indian Penal Code sections for murder and accidental death has been registered and further investigation is underway. (With inputs from PTI)
