Devotees in Mumbai are prepaing for the Shardiya Navratri festival, which will commence on October 15, in India.
The nine-day festival, which honor goddess Durga in various forms. It is widely celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil. It is one of the biggest festivals in the country.
Apart from offering prayer, the devotees of goddess Durga also observe fast for all nine days to seek her blessings and follow a color code every day upto the ninth day fo the festival. This year, the Navratri festival will commence on Sunday, October 15 and will go on till Tuesday, October 24.
The festival is associated with the prominent battle that took place between goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura.
