The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), investigating the alleged drug syndicate linked to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput last year, arrested the actor's former manager Rishikesh Pawar on Wednesday. Officers said Pawar, who had been absconding, was arrested for procuring marijuana for the late actor during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Pawar was produced in Killa Court which sent him to the NCB's custody till February 5. His name had surfaced during the questioning of Rajput's house help Deepesh Sawant last year.
"He is accused in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. We have incriminating evidence against him, retrieved from his laptop, that he supplied marijuana and hashish to the actor," said Sameer Wankhede, zonal director, NCB.
He would procure the drugs through a third person who has already been arrested in the case, Wankhede added. On Pawar's laptop, the agency said it has found hundreds of photographs of marijuana clicked at the late actor's residence.
