A 72-year-old senior citizen was run over by a private bus in Thane on Monday.
According to the police, the accident took place in Thane's Ghodbunder Road around 9.30 am.
"The driver of the private bus was taking a reverse when he knocked down and ran over the senior citizen," the police official said.
The victim has been identified as Gajanan Durpathe.

"The body of the victim has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem," the police official added.
The police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.
"A case has been registered against the bus driver," senior inspector Rajesh Babshetty of Kasarwadavali police station said.
Earlier last week, a 30-year-old man was killed after his motorbike hit a pillar on Ghodbunder Road. Authorities were alerted about the accident at around 5.30 am, Thane Municipal Corporation official said.
"The man, from Mira Road area, was proceeding on his motorbike towards Thane on Ghodbunder road when his vehicle dashed against a pillar of the ongoing Metro line work. He fell down and died on the spot," the official told PTI.
