Ahead of the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), has announced a waiver of mandap rent for Sarvajanik Ganeshostsav Mandals. This move aims to provide relief to the mandals during the festive season.
TMC Commissioner Abhijit Bangar stated that, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, it was decided to exempt Sarvajanik Ganeshostsav Mandals from paying mandap rent and deposit amounts. This decision comes just days before the Ganeshotsav celebrations, which are set to take place from September 19 to 28.
To facilitate the process, a ward committee-wise arrangement has been established to ensure that all Sarvajanik Ganeshostsav Mandals receive necessary permits without delay. The Municipal Corporation has also introduced the option of applying for permission to erect temporary mandaps in public places online, eliminating the need for mandals to approach various authorities individually. The mandals will not have to go to the police, traffic police and fire department for permission or for a no-objection certificate. The facility of applying online is available directly on the link tmcmandap.vidhsiddinfoechllp.com and on the website of Thane Municipal Corporation www.thanecity.gov.in, he said.
The TMC has emphasized the importance of obtaining proper permissions before constructing mandaps and has urged mandals to strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the High Court, government, and Thane Municipal Corporation.

"According to the order of the High Court, it will be mandatory to put a copy of the permission letter where the mandap is built. It should be noted that if the copy of the permission letter is not put on the facade, legal action will be taken against the officials of the mandals on the assumption that the mandap has been erected without permission," the civic body said.
"We have appealed to people to celebrate the festivals by strictly following the orders of the High Court, the guidelines issued by the government and the guidelines of the Thane Municipal Corporation," Bangar said.
The upcoming 11-day Ganeshotsav festival is scheduled to be celebrated in the city from September 19 to 28 this year.
