The assistant municipal commissioner of Ward Committee No 3 of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Dattatray Jadhav, has been summarily suspended by the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation for alleged negligence in implementing the Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme. The scheme provides a monthly deposit of Rs 1,500 in women's accounts.
Jadhav was absent from a meeting organised by the authorities and failed to provide information sought at a previous meeting held at the ward committee office.
As a result, he has been suspended by Municipal Commissioner Aziz Shaikh, pending further investigation.
According to sources from the UMC, to expedite this scheme, assistant commissioners had been entrusted with the tasks of advertising, opening online centres, accepting offline applications etc. at the ward committee level. The scheme, which was started by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, provides women aged 21 to 60 with Rs 1,500 each month.
A source said, "A conference meeting by the chief minister was held at the commissioner's office on Thursday. The assistant commissioner of Ulhasnagar Municipal
Ward Committee was ordered to attend this meeting. Except the assistant commissioner of ward committee 3, Jadhav, other assistant commissioners were also present. Also, two days ago, a meeting was held in the office of ward committee two under the chairmanship of the head of the general administration department, Manish Hivre. Assistant Commissioner Dattatray Jadhav could not provide the information sought in this meeting. Therefore, by the order of Municipal Commissioner Aziz Shaikh, an order has been issued to suspend Dattatray Jadhav immediately from the General Administration Department."

Aziz Shaikh, municipal commissioner, UMC, confirmed the suspension and said, "We have found that the AMC Jadhav's work was inadequate. I had informed him many times to do the work as the scheme needs to reach the masses. But he was careless and not doing his job, and we found that he had not even attended the meetings which were organised for the promotion of the scheme. We took the strict action and he has been suspended from duty till further orders."
