The project, including the dam and its canals is aimed at bringing around 68,000 hectare of land under irrigation. It is expected to provide drinking water to over 125 villages in Ahmednagar and Sinnar taluka in Nashik
It is reportedly the first major project in the country where the piped distribution network for smaller distributaries will be carried out
The work of the dam was reportedly completed and commissioned in the year 2014. But the canal networks were still under construction
The project was initially approved as Mhaladevi in 1970 at an estimated cost of Rs7.9 crore
On Wednesday, CM Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis visited the spot to officially inaugurate the project
