Western Railway successfully restored train services at Palghar station near Mumbai, bringing relief to passengers affected by the derailment of a goods train.

Seven wagons of a goods train carrying iron coils derailed at Palghar, causing significant damage to tracks and overhead equipment, disrupting Mumbai-bound train traffic.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the derailment, ensuring the safety of passengers and railway staff.

The impact of the derailed wagons and coils caused major damage to railway tracks and overhead equipment, requiring immediate restoration efforts.

Railway authorities certified the damaged railway track fit for operations with speed restrictions, enabling the resumption of train services.

A five-member panel has been appointed to conduct a junior administrative grade enquiry into the derailment incident to ascertain the cause and prevent future occurrences.

Some passengers faced difficulties, including a lack of food and water, while stranded onboard trains due to the derailment, highlighting the importance of timely assistance during such incidents.

Passengers expressed concerns about the lack of provisions onboard trains, prompting railway authorities to respond and assure the provision of food and water to stranded passengers.

Western Railway deployed approximately 250 labourers and various machinery, including hydra cranes and earth excavating machines, to expedite the restoration work at the derailment site.

Railway officials continued to monitor the situation closely, ensuring the smooth operation of trains and addressing passenger needs effectively throughout the restoration process.
