A 19-year-old woman lost her life in an accident on Lohegaon-Wagholi road, when a speeding tempo hit her two-wheeler on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Aarti Ashok Talekar, a resident of Santnagar in Lohegaon. A case has been lodged against the unidentified driver of the tempo at the Vimantal police station by Aarti's father Ashok Kisan Talekar (54), a junior clerk posted at Pune Municipal Corporation.

Talekar said Aarti was studying at a college based in Kharadi, and she used the two-wheeler to travel to and from her college every day. She possessed a learner's licence.

On Saturday evening, Talekar received a call, informing him that his daughter had met with an accident, and had been moved to a private hospital in Yerawada for treatment. Accordingly, Talekar reached the hospital where doctors told him that Aarti had succumbed to injuries.

Following the mishap, the tempo driver fled from the spot. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and Indian Penal Code, said sub-inspector SS Chavan from Vimantal police station.u00a0
