We know that the Indian fashion ace suffered a massive heart attack on Tuesday evening and was admitted to the multi-speciality Medanta Medicity at Gurgaon under renowned cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr Naresh Trehan.
However, relatives and friends of Bal remained in denial mode over his reported indisposition till late Tuesday evening. Even agents of the designer gave conflicting statements.
Through a press release, issued on Monday evening, publicists for Bal said Gudda was not keeping well. "Mr Rohit Bal is presently indisposed. He fell ill on the evening of February 22. He is in New Delhi and is undergoing medical treatment. As we have relevant updates we will keep the media informed."
It was followed by another release later that evening, saying "Rohit Bal has had a heart episode". "He was admitted into Aashlok Hospital, New Delhi in the early hours of the morning. He has now been transferred to Medanta - The Medicity. Mr. Bal is presently under medical care. We will release further update as and when required," it said.
However, Dr Tanushree, head of operations, Aashlok Hospital, refused to reveal anything regarding Rohit Bal. "Personal records of patients are confidential and I can't disclose them."
But, Dr Naresh Trehan confirmed that Gudda suffered a "minor heart attack and was stable."
What's next? |
Rohit Bal will undergo an angiography today following which doctors will decide the future course of treatment. A senior doctor at Medanta said the designer may have to undergo an open heart bypass. |
He also ruled out any possible alcohol or drug overdose. "Nothing of that sort," he said.
But, Aditya Bal, celebrity chef and Rohit's nephew, denied that Gudda had a heart attack. "All I know is that he was complaining of irregular blood pressure and anxiety and decided to get admitted for a complete check up."u00a0
Gudda's close friend and designer Varun Behl said the situation is being exaggerated as the person concerned is "the Rohit Bal".
"I just spoke to his sister and she told me that he is absolutely fine. He is still in hospital for a regular check up," he said.
To many of his friends from the party circuit, the news took them by surprise. A shocked hotelier AD Singh said, " I don't even know anything of that sort. I hope he's fine."
