A Delhi cleric lodges FIR against Shah Rukh Khan, accusing him of blasphemy
Even as Muslim clerics are debating over issuing a fatwa against Shah Rukh Khan for his reported comments against the Prophet, the complaints are still pouring in.
After the Mumbai-based Muslim organization lodged an FIR against the 'Badshah', a cleric of a local mosque in Okhla in south Delhi has registered a complaint against him.
"Shah Rukh Khan used derogatory language against the Prophet Mohammad which has hurt the sentiments of Muslim community. We want to book such people irrespective of their social profile," said Imam Maqsoodul Hasan Qasmi of Kehkashan mosque in Okhla Vihar. The Imam said such comments cannot go unpunished.
"The police official told me that he cannot file my complaint as there is already a case registered against him.
But when MF Hussain painted Hindu deities in nude, there were hundreds of FIRs against him," the cleric told MiD DAY. "There is no such provision in the law that multiple FIRs cannot be registered in any case," said advocate Anwar Ahmad Khan, adding that the complaint was registered under section 295 (A) and 290 (A).
A police official at Jamia Nagar police station confirmed the registration of the FIR.
