Au00a0few days ago, she created a sensation in the city by gatecrashing a wedding and claiming she was pregnant with the groom's child. Now Priyanka is thinking if she should go for an abortion; but the police want to do a DNA test first, and this means she cannot terminate the pregnancy just yet as the investigation takes its own time to get round to the test.

Priyanka is three-and-a-half months pregnant

The more an abortion is delayed after three months of pregnancy, the higher the risks involved.

And Priyanka, who is already three-and-half months gone, wants the police to hurry up with the tests.

She is already upset with the way the police are handling the case. Her case has been transferred to the R M C Yard police station (Yashwantpur) from the Nandini Layout police, reportedly because of conflicts between police officials and her family.

And the R M C police have gone back to square one in investigating the case, which means it is likely to take even longer than it would otherwise have for the DNA test to take place.

Priyanka's case is that she was cheated by her neighbour Anand, who promised her marriage and tricked her into physical relations before deciding to get married to another woman.

Firming her decision

Till some time ago she was not sure about abortion, but now she says she is leaning towards medical termination of pregnancy because she does not hope to get justice anyway, seeing the pace of the investigation.

Police Inspector Manjunath G C of the R M C Yard police station said the DNA test was taking time as they had just got hold of the case.

"Just two days ago we took over this case and began the primary investigation," Manjunath said. "After the primary investigation, we will be conducting the DNA test. I don't know anything about her decision, whether she wants to go for abortion or continue with her pregnancy, and cannot comment on it."

The police, to confirm the paternity of the child she is carrying, want the DNA test done, but she says they should do it immediately, since a few more days will mean a threat to her life during the abortion procedure.

She says her family doctor has also suggested carrying the child any further than this is fraught with danger as she is too weak and weighs 43 kg.u00a0

Lover's revenge?

Talking to MiD DAY, Priyanka said she believed her lover Anand had got her pregnant out of revenge because he might have felt hurt when she at first ignored his advances. She said she became his lover only after he had tried for a long time. "I think he had revenge on me by trying to make my life hell. Four years ago, at the initial stage of our knowing each other, he begged for my love, but I rejected him," she said. "But he kept at it, followed me for days, even said he would commit suicide and leave behind a note saying I was the reason for it.
Now I am thinking he just had his revenge for having gone through all that."

She said she was scared more acts of revenge could follow. "Anand's family has threatened to kill me. His brother is already out on bail. After some days, Anand will be out as well. I am really frustrated. I want to go and attend college, but all eyes there will keep following me," she said. "I am thinking a lot about my pregnancy, if I go ahead with it, then what does the future hold? Who will marry me? I am just 22 and unable to face life without a job and any kind of security."
