'Disturbed' 27-year-old woman undergoing de-addiction hangs self

A 27-year-old woman, Manisha Meelan Thakur, who was reportedly mentally unstable, ended her life late last night by hanging herself from the ceiling fan with her dupatta in her room at the Chaitanya Health Care Centre in Kondhwa


A 27-year-old woman, Manisha Meelan Thakur, who was reportedly mentally unstable, ended her life late last night by hanging herself from the ceiling fan with her dupatta in her room at the Chaitanya Health Care Centre in Kondhwa. Her body was brought to Sassoon for post-mortem at 11.45 pm.

Manisha was undergoing treatment for drug addiction at the centre over the past month. She went back to her room after complaining of cough and cold. Later, the staff spotted her hanging in her room, brought her down and rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared dead.

Ronny George, secretary, Chaitanya Health Care Centre, said Manisha was undergoing treatment for drug addiction and she was also suffering from personality disorder symptoms. "Manisha had often threatened to commit suicide. She had cut her wrist in the past," he said.

Haveli Police Inspector Satish Patil confirmed it was a case of suicide.
