An unidentified man posing as a doctor made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 1.10 lakh of an elderly patient who had gone to do some medical tests at Dinanath hospital.
This is the sixth case in the past four months where unidentified persons posing as doctors decamped with jewellery of patients admitted in different city hospitals.
Vijaya Panhale (64), a resident of Sihngad Road, has registered a complaint in this regard. According to the police, Panhale had gone to the hospital for some medical tests on Wednesday afternoon.
"When she was waiting outside the ECG section, an unidentified person posing as a doctor came there and asked her to go inside the ECG room.
He also asked to take off her gold ornaments and keep it on a table." "Panhale removed her ornaments worth Rs 1.10 lakh, kept it on the table and went inside the room. Meantime, the person quietly decamped with the ornaments," said Deshmukh.
The elderly woman came out of the room only to fin her ornaments missing. Deshmukh added, "We have registered a case against an unidentified person under Section of 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating)."
