After fake profile put on website, victim's phone has been ringing off the hookIt is not just celebrities whose fake identities are created on social networking websites. A 23-year-old woman received calls seeking sex for payment after someone created a fake profile of hers and gave out her phone number on a networking website.
Michelle Doss (name changed), who works as a front office executive in a private firm, started receiving emails and phone calls seeking sexual encounters. "Initially, I thought it was a prank, but when the frequency of the calls increased, I checked things," Doss told the police.
Doss realised someone had created her fake profile on ibibo.com with details like office address, email address and mobile number. "There were a couple of vulgar messages on the ibibo.com mail, which was in my name," Doss told the police. "For example, one message said, 'Hi this is Reena.... I want good sex company.' Then, there was one that said, 'Sexual pleasure for satisfaction in bed.'"
A police officer said, "We suspect that someone known to her may have done it."
Doss refused to comment, only saying the police would take appropriate action.
