Woman who eloped fears her parents will harm her and her husband; says she wants to file police complaint
A Young woman whose father followed her to the city from Jaipur after she eloped with a man from a different caste wants to file an FIR against her parents as she fears for her husband's life.
Newlyweds Prince and Aashika Parashar got married on August 12 and arrived in the city to escape the wrath of Aashika's father, a powerful man in Jaipur.
MiD DAY reported yesterday that Aashika's father had allegedly threatened to kill her if she married Prince.
The couple is currently on the run fearing an attack from Aashika's parents. Aashika's father brought with him a team of the Rajasthan police and, fearing arrest, Prince applied for and was granted transit bail from a sessions court.
It is understood that Aashika's parents had slapped a criminal case against Prince before leaving Jaipur, saying he had kidnapped Aashika.
After coming to the city, Aashika's father, the Rajasthan police and the city police allegedly tricked Prince's sister into going with them to a police station and abused and threatened her there in an effort to know where Prince and Aashika were.
Though Prince's arrest has been ruled out by virtue of the grant of bail, the couple still fears an attack from Aashika's relatives, who are camping in the city.
Aashika said she would be registering a criminal complaint against her parents and relatives for threatening to kill her and her husband.
Aashika and Prince have decided to visit the Police Commissioner's Office to submit their application demanding police protection. In a letter addresses to the police commissioner, Aashika has said her parents threatened her on August 17 over the phone that they would kill her husband to get her back.
MiD DAY has a copy of a letter which the newlyweds plan to submit at the Police Commissioner's Office. Aashika has said in the letter that if anything untoward happened to her, her husband or her in-laws, then her parents should be held responsible for it.
Advocate Milind Pawar, the couple's counsel, said "The couple will be requesting protection from the police
as they fear that Aashika's parents may attack them or Prince's family."
