Police say third person caught in triple murder case visited crime spot to 'help' them

The police, who yesterday said they had cracked last week's triple murder case, stumbled upon the suspects when a pawnbroker tipped them off on two people trying to sell stolen jewellery.

The police said the two, identified as Rajappa and Praveen, confessed and based on the information they gave, they zeroed in on the alleged mastermind, Lokesh.

The police said Lokesh was a former driver of one of the murder victims, Rahul Das.

The police pegged the worth of the valuables looted from the Das home at Rs 2 lakh.

The discovery of the murders on Friday had shocked the city.

The police said after killing the three members of the family at their home, the accused had picked up valuables before staying on for about three hours, drinking alcohol and watching TV. They said that after the murders, Lokesh had even come to the crime spot over the next three days and 'helped' the police in their investigation.

On the day of the murders, Lokesh allegedly gained entry into the Das home and managed to overpower Das and his wife. The police said after killing the couple, one of the accused smothered Das' daughter Agnisha with a pillow in her bedroom.
