active in the middle of the night. When Katie discloses to Micah that she has been haunted, Micah buys a camera to videotape the paranormal activity in their house.
But, that was just from a movie. Enter real life Katie - Jaya Banerjee.
However, like all the reel flicks inspired by life, this real version has a twist added to the tale.
Banerjee is a handicapped, a widow and lives with her two children.
It all started when she shifted to a house in Rajiv Nagar in east Delhi's Mandoli in March last year.
Paranormal activityWithin a month Banerjee felt some 'supernatural' happenings in our house. "I heard somebody's steps on the staircase, my door locks tampered and documents kept near the windows spread around the house," Banerjee, who walks with the help of crutches, said.
Initially, she thought the house was haunted and her fears start turning true after important papers and gifts allegedly went missing in October.
"Most of the missing gifts were given by my in-laws and the papers related to our property. I felt like shifting to some other place but not before revealing the truth behind the extraordinary circumstances," Banerjee said.
"On the night of January 25, I was alone at the house. At around 1Oclock I heard somebody walking on the terrace. I couldn't get up immediately from my bed due to my handicap. Somehow, I managed to call the police but they found nothing," she said.
Anti-climaxShe remained confused until one day she saw her neighbours daughter allegedly climbing down my balcony with a help of a tree close by.
Banerjee filed a complaint at the Harsh Vihar police station, alleging her neighbours were keeping an eye on her family. "I fear they might abduct my daughter, who works with a call centre."
However, as she could not establish a motive and had any proof. Therefore, the gutsy woman decided to gather evidence on her own.
Roving eyeBanerjee installed CCTV cameras at her house at a cost of Rs 15,000 and provided the footage to the police as supporting evidence. "I am still clueless why they are not taking any action."
However, a senior police official said the footage is not clear and pointed out they had taken action on her first complaint only.
"The footage fails to establish clearly that her neighbours are trying to enter her house. Still, we are conducting an inquiry," he said.
