There seems to be new twist in the case of a private finance company's branch manager who has been accused of stealing gold from the firm's strong room. Now, his wife has alleged that senior officials of the company abducted her husband on the pretext of an inquiry and threatened her.
R S Sukumar, branch manager and his assistants from the RT Nagar branch of Muthoot Mini Nidhi Finance, were accused of having cheated customers by stealing their gold from the strong room worth Rs 22 lakh.
Shreekanth Kulkarni, the regional manager, had registered a criminal case against Sukumar, assistant manager S A Ramanujan, and business associate C Rajeshwari.
However, after the complaint, Sukumar's wife R S Mamatha (26), suspected foul play by the company, and has registered an abduction, criminal intimidation and assault complaint against Kulkarni.
According to her complaint, Mamatha alleged, "Apart from detaining my husband and others illegally for three days on the pretext of enquiry, Kulkarni also barged in our house and threatened us with dire consequences. He also snatched my mobile phone and took Rs 4 lakh from the residence."
Mamatha added that after the illegal detention by Kulkarni, they later released her husband, stating that they had found the valuables and later registered a complaint.
RT Nagar PI M C Poovaiah said, "We are still questioning Sukumar and haven't recovered the valuables yet. He was allegedly subjected for an enquiry by the complainant Kulkarni, before the complaint was registered. We are also in frequent touch with his wife."
