In a shocking incident in Rohini yesterday, two guys in a Skoda car harassed two sisters. When they protested, the guys tried to abduct the younger sister.

Fortunately, some passers by heard the commotion and came to the girls' rescue. According to police, the incident took place at 8.50 pm at Deepali Chowk area of Rohini.

The victim, Mamta Aggarwal (26), had gone for shopping and was accompanied by her younger sister Priyanka Bansal (22) and brother.
Suddenly a grey Skoda stopped by their side and the men sitting inside, identified as Shekhar and Arun, started passing lewd comments at the sisters. When the girls answered them back, they started pulling Priyanka inside the car. When she protested, they hit her.
Red means stop
Meanwhile, the victims started crying for help and fortunately, the signal ahead turned red, forcing the accused to stop the car near Deepali Chowk. The victims then raised huge hue and cry and many passers by gathered at the spot. They then beat the men up and pelted the car with stones.
"A PCR call was made around 8 pm and police immediately rushed to the spot and controlled that mob. A case was registered under appropriate Sections and both the accused were taken into police custody. We have seized the car as well," said a senior police official.
Family matters?
"The accused come from good, educated families. They belong to Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. Arun works at a private event management company as senior event coordinator while Shekhar is pursuing his studies," said Bholanath Jaiswal, DCP, Outer District. Surprisingly, according to Mamta, the accused were accompanied by a girl in the car.
Mamta, a resident of Rohini's Sector 20, lives with her husband Lalit Aggarwal. Her father-in-law Jugal Kishore, mother-in-law Komal Lata and brother-in-law live in the same block. The shocked family left for Punjab on Thursday evening.u00a0
Meanwhile, the police presented the accused in the district court at Rohini and the investigation is still on. The girl who was accompanying them is yet to be identified.u00a0 A case of hurt, assault and wrongful restraint has been registered against them at the Rohini south police station.

Two drivers of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit's pilot vehicle, a part of her convoy, were arrested on 1 June for misbehaving with a 23-year-old woman near Pragati Maidan. Police said the drivers, identified as Rajesh Kumar (26) and Jagdish Vashisht (40), were off duty when the incident took place. Both were suspended.
In another incident, Heena Kakkar, a B Tech student of Manav Rachna University committed suicide by jumping off the varsity's hostel building on 16 June. Reportedly, she was being stalked and harassed by two boys of the same university. The victim's family had criticised the university's incapability in dealing with the issue.
