The head constable allegedly killed a businessman after looting him and then shot at a biker who was helping the police in chasing him
Head Constable Ajay Singh Tomar who allegedly opened fire at two persons on Saturday night, killing a Lahori Gate businessman on the spot has been dismissed from service. He is currently in police custody. Police have also announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for the injured youth, Sunny, who helped cops in chasing Tomar and suffered a bullet wound. But the latter succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
The head constable fired at Sunny when he tried to chase him on his bike along with a cop. Sunny suffered bullet wound in his neck and was admitted to St Stephen's Hospital. A senior police official said that the department invoked article 311 (2) to dismiss Tomar from service. He explained that under this article they don't have to conduct any inquiry to dismiss anyone.u00a0
The incident was reported from Lahori Gate area of north Delhi at around 9pm on Saturday. The accused allegedly robbed a businessman Amarjeet Chaddha and pumped three bullets into his stomach.u00a0 "Sunny who was passing through the area noticed the incident. Another police head constable Surender Tyagi asked Sunny to chase him," said the police. Tomar, who jumped from a bridge to flee, was also injured and caught.
