A man in depression with a gun in hand is not just a danger to himself but also to others around him. Here's an example. Allegedly depressed over low salary and odd duty hours a security guard at an office of Muthoot Finance allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself after killing two of his colleagues and injuring two others, both woman in Govindpuri area of southeast Delhi. The incident took place at around 8 pm near Hamdard University. A senior police official said that the deceased guard was identified as Bisham Singh, a native of Etah in UP.u00a0

On duty
"Singh worked for Skyfour Securities. He was deployed at Muthoot Finance at Govindpuri area for quite a long time. This evening he came on duty at around 8 pm. He kept staring at the other employees working at the branch for quite a long time. All of a sudden he took out his gun and started firing indiscriminately inside the office. The employees tried to escape, but many of them couldn't. A hurricane of bullets fired by Singh hit four employees of the company who were identified as Niddhi, Annu, Umesh and Krishna. They suffered bullet injuries and collapsed on the floor writhing in pain," said the police official.

He also said that after opening fire at the four employees, Singh shot himself dead. Police were informed and a team was immediately sent to the crime spot. All the injured were immediately rushed to AIIMS. "Doctors declared Singh, Umesh and Krishan brought dead.u00a0 Niddhi and Annu were admitted in the hospital with bullet injuries. They are undergoing treatment and their condition are stated to be critical by the doctor," said the police official close to the investigation.

Money matters
Police said that they have spoken to some senior-level officials of the company and other guards deployed at the same branch regarding the matter to find out what provoked Singh into committing this act.u00a0"Police came to know that the deceased guard was living in depression because of his duty time and low pay. He had asked his seniors to increase his salary but nothing was done. The official said that the guard had been working in this particular branch for the past one and a half year. No one had any inkling he would take such an extreme step.

1) A guard posted outside the residence of Vice-Admiral Shekhar Sinha, chief of the Integrated Defence Staff, shot himself dead with his own gun Monday, police said. Bhoomappa, 27, who hailed from Karnataka, shot himself at around 3.25 p.m. Police have not recovered any suicide note. He was on duty at the 8 Akbar Road official residence of Sinha when the incident took place, said a police official. "We got a call around 3.30 p.m. and rushed to the spot. We found a man lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Armed Forces Clinic where doctors declared him dead," said Tughlaq Road police station chief Madan Gopal.

2) On April 14, a 28-year-old security guard of an MCD school had allegedly committed suicide inside the school premises in northeast Delhi. This incident was reported from Seelampur area. The deceased hanged himself when he was on duty at around 11am. The guard, identified as Sherpal, was found hanging inside a locked classroom. Police could not find out the exact reason behind his suicide as no note was recovered from him.

"The school was closed on account of the gazetted holiday of Ambedkar Jayanti. We found the deceased hanging from the ceiling fan in a classroom on the third floor of the building. The reason for him taking the extreme step is still not clear. We have sent the body for postmortem and are investigating the case," police said after the incident.

A resident of 1716 Bihai Colony in Khajuri Khas area, the deceased is survived by his wife Kamla and three children - Laxmi, Nidhi and Jyoti - and his uncle Lalchand. The family was too shocked to comment on the incident.
