A 15-year-old boy lost his life while two of his friends suffered serious injuries in an accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a truck at Bhosari in front of the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) premises near the Nashik phata at 7am on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified by the police as Shubham Popat Thopte (15), a resident of Adinath Nagar in Bhosari.
Omkar Vasant Landge (16) and Swapnil Vitthal Dhavale (16), both from Bhosari, were also seriously injured in the accident and have been admitted in private hospitals for further treatment. The car belonged to Dhavale.
Car driver abscondingThe truck driver Sopan Sakharam Jamadar (52) and his assistant Ibrahim Baig also received minor injuries in the accident.
Jamadar has filed a complaint against the car driver at the Bhosari police station.
The car driver, whose name is Gore, is absconding.
Investigating officer Police Sub-Inpector S R Surve said, "Thopte and his two friends were travelling from Bhosari towards Kasarwadi in the Toyota Corolla (MH14 BK 8635) car on Sunday morning. As the car approached CIRT, the driver lost control over the speeding car and as a result rammed into the divider. The
impact was so strong that the car jumped the divider and went on to the other side.
"Jamadar who was driving his truck while going from Kasarwadi to Bhosari saw the car coming on the wrong side and in an effort to avoid a collision took the truck off the road. Jamadar and Baig got minor injuries as the truck
hit a tree on the left side.
Meanwhile, the car turned turtle when its driver also tried to avoid colliding with the truck. Thopte and the two other students got trapped inside. While Thopte was declared dead, the other two are being treated at a private hospital in Chinchwad."
