Sleuths of the city's cyber cell have arrested a 19-year-old student from Delhi for creating a fake Facebook profile of Police Commissioner Meeran Borwankar.

Identified as Anubhav Bipinkumar Yadav, the accused hails from Dhanao in Uttar Pradesh. The police said Yadav was pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration.

During the investigation, it was also learnt that Yadav had earlier created a community called ‘Save Girls-Safe Nation', and another account calling himself ‘Madam' to promote the initiative.

"I already have a FB account and came to know that another account has been started in my name and asked the cyber cell to investigate," Borwankar said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Cell) Dr Sanjay Shinde said Yadav was arrested after the police were able to pinpoint his location in Delhi.

"We started the investigation and sought information from Google and the concerned Internet Service Provider. They replied immediately and provided the IP address of the computer where the FB account was created," Shinde said. "We got the location in Delhi. Our team went there and arrested him for cheating and impersonation." u00a0
