Help at hand: Agni Sridhar |
On Valentine's Day, there will be 30,000 activists out there on the streets to ensure that no one's spoiling your party. All you need to do is call the yet-to-be-announced helpline numbers.
Former don Agni Sridhar, who now runs a newspaper, has got progressive organisations like the Dalit Sangharshana Sangha (DSS) and Raita Sangha together. "We have over 30,000 people with us. They are all youngsters who are enraged by the threats and don't want to remain spectators," said Sridhar.
Members of these organisations spread throughout the city will be available on call if couples are bothered by the Sri Ram Sena. "We will have our men near colleges, parks, malls and other places. If any couple is troubled, they can call the helpline numbers which will be provided soon. Our men will reach the place and take care of the cultural goons," he said.
Rose kaaro!
Sridhar, along with writers and leaders of other organisations, will be seated at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on M G Road on February 14, offering roses to people celebrating the day. "We will give roses to people celebrating this day and we will also greet them on Valentine's Day," he said.
Sridhar said youngsters who celebrate Valentine's Day "don't think dirty".
"On that day, they try to be as pure as possible. Dirt is in the minds of these cultural goons and that is why they assume everyone is dirty. These are pathological cases," he said.
