Vehicles involved in the accident, a Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Omni, collided with each other at a signal on Palm Beach Road at 11 p.m.
Three of the injured were taken to MGM Hospital in Vashi, police said.
A case was registered with Nerul Police station and accused Seema Premal Thakkar (32) was taken into custody.
Thakkar was driving the Honda City and claimed to have crashed into the Maruti Suzuki having occupants Dayanand Ganpat Manjrekar (30), Shekhar Gaikwad, Bhaskar Shetty and Vasheer Shaikh.
Of those injured, Gaikwad, a resident of Kanjurmarg, is critical and Manjrekar, a Nerul resident, is seriously injured.
The accused, a resident of Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, has been booked with Section 184 of the IPC for dangerous driving.
Shaikh, Shetty and Gaikwad were taken to MGM Hospital in Vashi at around 11.30 pm, half an hour after the accident took place.
Dr Bharat Jagiasi, Head of the Critical Care unit said, "Gaikwad is bleeding internally and has lost a major amount of blood and hence in a critical condition. Shaikh has sustained spinal fractures and will take a few weeks to recover completely and Shetty is currently stable."
Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Hire said, "The case was been registered by Dayanand Manjrekar, who is one of the injured. So far it looks as if the Honda City rammed into the Omni at the signal. However, we are still investigating to find out whose fault it was that caused the accident."
