Seven members of a family, including a NRI, were booked for allegedly cheating a local girl, and 'drawing' money and jewelleries from her on the pretext of marriage here, police said
Pathankot: Seven members of a family, including a NRI, were on Thursday booked for allegedly cheating a local girl, and 'drawing' money and jeweleries from her on the pretext of marriage here, police said.
The accused are related to each other and have been identified as - Buta Singh, an NRI settled at Germany, Daler Singh, Surinder Kaur, Sonia, Rimpy, Baby and Neetu all residents of Jammu, police said.
All the accused allegedly hatched a conspiracy and approached a local girl for marriage with a relative of Buta, police said. The girl's mother organised a ceremonial marriage functions besides giving away cash and jewelery to the family of the groom, police said.
However, the boy did not come back to India for marriage which was fixed in April this year, police said.
A case has been registered and a team has been formed to arrest the accused boy, they said.
