The intrepid children, who wanted to cycle to Pakistan on a mission of peace, will now send Barack Obama 7,000 letters.u00a0
Thirty students from India, UK, Japan and Australia started their expedition Peace by Cycle on November 1 from Bangalore to Lahore and covered 2,800 km in 30 days.
On their way, they picked up friendship lettersu00a0 from other students which they planned to give to students and politicians in Pakistan.u00a0 But the expedition ended earlier than expected as they were stopped at the Wagah border in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks.
"We will post it to Barack Obama," said Sarvana Dhanpal, one of the children. "The situation between the two nations is growing worse. We hope US intervention will ease it," he added.
The NGO that helped organise the expedition Born Free Foundation will help the children mail the letters, though other NGOs in the US.
"The children want to convey their message to the US," said John Devraj, founder of Born Free Art School.
"They feel an intervention by the international community will help the peace process," he added.
