In yet another incident of robbery in the posh south Delhi locality of Vasant Kunj, robbers took away Rs 80 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh from the residence of one Harish Arora. The victim works as a cashier at Bank of Baroda, Lodhi Estate branch.
On July 23, Arora left his house to go to office around 8 in the morning. Soon, all other family members, including his wife, daughter and son-in law, left the house too. Around 10.30pm, he came back and was shocked to see that the door was bolted from outside without a lock. The house was a mess and the money was gone.
"The robbers fled with Rs 80 lakh and jewellery, which included a seven lakh gold necklace, ten pairs of gold bangles and a gold pendant," said a senior police official.
He added, "According to the FIR registered at Vasant Kunj police station, Arora claimed only a few people knew about the cash." Meanwhile, Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south), "The case was registered on Sunday. We suspect it is an insider's job, since very few people knew about the bag. Further investigation is on."
