IT Co associations in city launch initiative to help Satyamites in trouble
Facility Managers' (FM) Zone and Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) have now joined hands to help benched Satyamites to beat the fear of pink slip cataclysm.
The new management of Satyam Computer Services recently identified around 10,000 employees under the 'Virtual Pool' programme to save operational and staff costs. While the feeling among employees in non-billable roles is one of despair and insecurity, the management isu00a0 trying to assure that it is not a prelude to subsequent lay off.
"It's our duty to help our friends facing hard times," said Seetharam Vishwanath, Manager, AOL. "We are sure they will be able to find better avenues with the kind of network we have," he added.
What they do?
The ORRCA and FM zone screen the resumes of software professionals, based on their merit. The short-listed resumes are then forwarded to various companies through their network. The consortium that gets over 30 resumes every month helps at least 10 software professionals find good jobs.u00a0u00a0u00a0
"There will always be openings in the companies that are a part of the consortium, especially for the entry-level positions, said Vishwanath.
So, he says finding a job is not a big issue. They cross-check the details thoroughly and forward the resumes to companies in their network.u00a0 If a company thinks that the candidate suits their job profile, it hires them.
The FM zone members feel that the job seekers can now reach the job providers easilyu00a0 as the exercise doesn't involve the job consultants.u00a0u00a0u00a0
"This process has already proved effective as it saves both candidate's and company's money to be paid to consultants."
Initiative welcomed
Techies too have welcomed the initiative.
"This initiative certainly helps software professionals overcome the job-loss blues," said Aruna Mannur, a former Satyamite.
Facility Managers' Zone or the FM zone, a consortium of facility managersu00a0 from over 40 software companiesu00a0 and theu00a0 ORRCA, an association of IT companies on Outer Ring Road, have built a strong network ofu00a0 software companies that boasts of global giants like AOL, Convergys, Tavant technologies, LG Soft and several others.
