If you like to experiment with your food, head to Zara The Tapas Bar and Restaurant, for a Spanish experience. The latest entrant in the high-end restaurant and bar circuit offers a wide variety of cocktails, mocktails and to our delight, Spanish food. The name Tapas refers to appetisers used in Spanish cuisine.u00a0
Ambience: The place looks chic, right from the colourful ceramic bench placed outside to the dim lights inside.
The restaurant is divided into two sections the inner section is painted in maroon, gold and white and has Spanish vases and paintings hanging on the walls, while to the other side is the bar. The design of the bar is inspired by the work of Spanish architect Gaudi. The wall to wall windows add a bright touch.
We liked: The menu is full of Spanish dishes, without any translations in English, so it's better if the manager or attendant assists you. We ordered a mocktail called Royal Smile (Rs 110) and a plate of Gambas al Ajillo (Rs 155). Before the food is served, you get a complimentary basket of garlic bread. The refreshing Royal Smile was a mixture of orange juice, pineapple juice, fresh lime soda and cranberry syrup. The Gambas al Ajillo had a total of six pieces of medium-sized prawns, mixed well with garlic and wine. It was delicious and not too heavy on the stomach.
The tasty Alas de Pollo Con Pure de Patatas (Rs 135) had chicken winglets served with mashed potatoes in gravy. It tasted a trifle sweet and had a mix of crushed pepper and olives. The Patata con Salsa (Rs 115) was actually fried potatoes garnished with chilly mayonnaise. It was filling, but certainly not worth the price tag. We could have whipped it up at home!
Service: The attendants are well-versed with the menu and dishes. They assist you in placing orders and we were more than obliged with their suggestions.
