It was a day marked by confusion and chaos for all the candidates appearing for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). AS the day began, many students were already at the centre before time as the exam was scheduled to commence at 9.30 am. But the leaking of exam papers the same morning got everybody in a fix.

Just as the word spread about the leak of papers, the CBSE released a notice of rescheduling the exam hours. The paper was rescheduled for 12 noon. For Abhishek Bhalla, 21, it was a tiring day. "By the time the word for rescheduling spread, we were already waiting to write the exam. But we vacated the room and waited till 12 in the noon for the exam to begin. In such heat and mental pressure, such discrepancies take a toll on the candidates," he said.
AIEEE question papers were leaked in Uttar Pradesh and reportedly sold for Rs 6 lakh forcing CBSE to postpone the test by over two hours and provide aspirants with fresh set of questions.
Vineet Joshi, chairman, CBSE appeared unperturbed when asked about the fallacy. He said, "We distributed fresh set of papers to the candidates. Besides, an inquiry will be conducted into the incident and those involved will be punished. The moment we came to know about the leak in the morning, our objective was to deal with the issue without causing much inconvenience to the students."
