After cops submit supplementary evidence in court, counsel of bakery blast accused says he will file reply on whether it should be admitted on March 1

The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has submitted supplementary evidence against prime accused Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig (29) in the German Bakery blast case. Documental evidence comprising of forged domicile certificate, ration card and other documents procured by Baig was filed in the court of Special Judge Usha Thakre.

The prosecution had already submitted fake identity card meant for disabled persons and a bogus election card allegedly procured by Baig using a duplicate name.

A fake caste certificate claiming Baig as the member of Chapparbandh caste, some blank forms procured from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) bearing fake stamps and a fake domicile certificate from Beed containing the name of Baig were the documents submitted by the prosecution in the court yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ATS) Vinod Satav told the court that the RTO of Aurangabad and the Tehsildar of Beed have certified that the documents were fake.

Judge Thakre then asked the defence counsel to file his say on whether the supplementary evidence should be admitted.

Baig's counsel Advocate Abdul Rehman said that he would submit his reply on March 1.

Rehman said, "The forged documents have nothing to do with Baig's alleged connection with the blast. If Baig's past conduct was the point of argument, it would had been relevant to invoke the Act 92 of evidence act by the ATS to prove that a particular person is of bad conduct. At this stage of the trial, this move is not necessary."

Aurangabad arms haul case revisted
The ATS also submitted supplementary chargesheet in the Aurangabad arms haul case of 2006 referring to Baig's name as the person who was in contact with some of the accused.

In the arms haul case, the ATS had then arrested 21 accused, all members of Lashkar-e-Toyba, of which six were absconding. The trial is pending in the case.
