Hate speech hero becomes the more sought-after Gandhi on the Internet

Even after being pulled up for stoking communal hatred against Muslims, BJP leader Varun Gandhi is the king at least on the web.

Internet searches for his more famous cousin Rahul Gandhi have trailed far behind Varun. Earlier, Rahul was miles ahead in terms of online popularity but immediately after the speech "Varun searches" have picked
up.

According to the Google Trends indicator, netizens have given a thumbs-up to Varun and data shows that he has dominated the cyber space in the last 30 days.u00a0

The Google search index volume scale shows the average search for Varun Gandhi is 2.60 while for Rahul Gandhi it is 1. Varun was searched by most number of people between March 18 and 28.u00a0

The popularity graph of the 29-year-old leader has been rising since he delivered hate speeches at Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh on March 16.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "People are looking for Varun Gandhi on the web because the issue was sensationalised. People are curious to read about him."

According to the latest data released by Google, the other most-searched-foru00a0 politicians are L K Advani, Manmohan Singh, Mayawati, Narendra Modi, Sanjay Dutt, Shashi Tharoor and Sonia Gandhi.
